Video Bumpy Knuckles & Dj Premier Celebrate the Release of "The KoleXXXion"
Question & Answer met Prince Po ( Organized Konfusion )
Dit Keer had ik het genoegen om samen met niemand minder dan Prince Po van Organized Konfusion een Question & Answer te doen. enjoy de vragen
1. Q How are you doing Prince ?
A: I'm blessed...living, loving and laughing..staying busy..appreciating this opportunity to connect wit the people...update em to my going ons..
2. You are from Queens NY How was it to grew up there?
A: u mean how was it to grow up there...not grew..lol.... ( Paul ) my bad lol...It was truly a test of wit, strength and determination..but overall a blessing..it empowered me to aim 2 be a better being.
3. On which music did you grew up?
A: i grew up on all types of music... hip hop, rock, soul & funk, gospel ...many influences from all genres...great music is great music
4. What was the first Hip Hop song / album that you heard and what was you reaction?
A: Treacherous three wit kool mo dee...the song was "body rock" ...simply blown away from kool mo's delivery and voice...
5. Who was your inspiration to start rapping ( writing rhymes ) ?
A: influenced by kool mo dee...also some queens local m.c's name chilly d and divine from the crew grandmaster vic and the boss crew, rakim and bizmarkie.
6. How did you meet Pharoche Monch and teamed up ?
A: Me and monch both lived in southside queens..i lived in 40 projects and he lived right around the corner. we also went to public school, junior high and ironicly high school together (art & design high school)..we was familiarized in junior high thru playing basketball after school and in the hood. We both was highly influenced by GMV and the Boss Crew to get into hip hop. We formed alliances ...I rhymed and monch beat boxed.
7. Who came up with the name Organized Konfusion ?
A: We both did...we wanted a name that gave us freedom to be versatile...we wanted no niche. we wanted to express all of our emotions thru song. We pondered on that 4 a minute and came up wit the organized part but I think monch actually put the final touch on us forming the name..but I wanted konfusion spelled with a k.
8. Which Organized Konfusion song and album are you most proud of ?
A: Very humble and proud of all the albums...but my favorite is tied between the equinox and stress the extinction agenda...moreso the equinox bcuz of the structure and concept. It took tedious hours of proper leveling not only for the songs but for the skits..and the concepts song to songs was remarkable.
9. The song Fudge Pudge ends with "Paul C to the organizm" what was his tribute to Organized Konfusion?
A: It was a shout to our crew for being so supportive, loyal and strong...and it was a shout to our mentor and first producer paul c...one of the best to produce, record and mix..his life was tragically taken before we even got signed.
10. After three CLASSIC Organized Konfusion album you and Pharoahe split up why was that?
A: We wanted to preserve the name and the quality of hip hop we was creating...and we was tired of fans and people saying the same thing..which was .."u guys is so ahead of ya time...u guys are truly dope as hell..u guys are rappers' rappers' and the biggest one which is...you guys need more promotion or something...it needs to be heard more"...we had no beef or misunderstanding...we like brothers..
11. My favorite Prince Po album is The Slickness what's yours and why?
A: The slickness is definitely my son.. my best off spring far as my solo ventures...i purposely recorded that album wit no specific direction in mind..i wanted to be more free far as songs, concepts and word play.. but "prettyblack was my favorite because i put that record together by myself with some great contributions from my brothers large pro, rockwilder...who also came from the organized camp and madlib...i wanted to be a lil more soulful, saavy and street with prettyblack.
12. Can we expect new music from you in the future?
A: i'm working on new material now...besides me producing on it....i'm getting tracks from various dope producers like canada's super talented moka only, oh no, bellamy beats from maryland, d.c., q tip and rockwilder... definitely feeling the messages and energy in the new lp thus far. Going to feature artist im working wit on there as well. Distrakt the m.c., Elekwent Folk, Orign..futprints workshop and my dude state penn. There will be known artist as well but we'll reveal that later...need some surprises for later.
13. Is there a chance in the future that we can expect a new Organized Konfusion album or reunion?
A: Monch and i hang out occasionally..from clubs to the gym for workouts..we been talking about it...we been sharing visions and ideas...and what we think the future of hip hop is holding..Let's see what the near future holds.
14. Or a Organized Konfusion reunion Tour maybe?
A: We had 2 great reunion shows. the 1st wit All points west festival that featured us along wit pharcyde, coldplay, jay z, tool and a few others. We both been overseas rocking shows extensively...but as solo artist. We NEVER did an Organized Konfusion tour overseas... so promoters u need to holla. It'll be history in the making.
15. What do you think about Hip Hop today?
A: It is what it is... there's a lot of changes that took place..a lot of bad..a few good...it's a new generation and the responsibility level of upkeeping our artform and culture dropped. People don't think 4 themselves no more. Now folks like songs because everyone else likes them. I'm not mad at them tho because there's still good music being released and there's listeners who are young, vibrant and truly know what time it is about my music and good music of today. We can go on 4 days about this but we gon keep it pushing.
16. Did you like this Q&A?
A: It definitely was a pleasure and honor. It gave me a chance to reconnect wit some and connect wit some new folks that enjoy and embrace good music. I also knew certain questions were coming. Some of the questions are seldomly asked...but at the end of the day it only proves that we made a valiant and creative contribution and if it wasn't felt, lived, played and embraced..i wouldn't be here being interviewed for such a much needed, connected and creative blog as this one.... truly appreciate the opportunity. Much luv, respect and admiration to paul, the crew(contributors), Holland..and all my fans, supporters and friends..from d.j's , mag writers, radio support, distibutors to record shops, skater shops, graf shops, b boys and b girls all over the world...i luv and appreciate you. Thank you 4 molding me into the artist/ entity i am today.
